Showcase of Innovations
We have been giving talks and demonstrations for many decades to groups including students, adult clubs, and drama groups.
We also have been a regular fixture in the line-ups created by Shakespeare’s Birthplace, The Clore, and The Royal Shakespeare Theatre’s Other Place for more than 40 years.
- Wigs and Make-Up in Shakespeare’s Theatre. A look at wigs and makeup across history is demonstrated through four archetypal characters created in front of the audience: Cleopatra, Captain Hook, Titania, and a Ruffian. Costumes, wigs, and makeup are used to give examples from across Shakespeare’s plays and other well-known productions, discussing how it would have been done historically, in recent history, and modern techniques. Can be adapted for ages 8 to 108 and to specific plays such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth, The Tempest, etc.
- Making it into Wigs and Makeup. Age 13+. A more technical discussion of the life of a wigmaker or MUA; getting into the industry; a demonstration of measuring, creating, adhering, and removing wigs and hairpieces; and creating Special Effects Makeup.
- Blood, Guts, and Gore. A demonstration of SFX with specific references to Shakespeare’s plays and modern productions. Includes artificial blood, stage weaponry, and choreography, making dead heads, and more.
Talks and Demonstrations from £200 for 45 minutes. £350 for two 45 minute sessions. £650 for five 45 minute sessions. Max 30 persons per session. Prices do not include travel or accommodation (if necessary).
